I've lost count, but it's been something like a move every year for the last 10 years...if not more.
To say I'm good at moving would be an understatement. I'm a pro.
To say I like it? After the 10th time...that's a stretch.
For a while in my early 20s, I loved moving because I was looking for change as a way to relieve boredom and escape uncomfortable problems. Terrible apartment? Move. New job? Let's go!
This being our umpteenth time moving, I guess I'm just tired.
Now, we're moving across town (20 minutes away) to be closer to Inwook's work and to cut down on rent. Not sure if you're all aware...but Northern VA is one of the most expensive places to live in the US!
We do our best to be frugal. As my mother-in-law reminds her son (my husband), "Listen to Marni and everything will be fine." Haha! I appreciate the vote of confidence! And so - I found the apartment, we saw it, felt peace, and decided to takes steps to sign a lease.
We'll be moved in a week from tomorrow. This might be unbelievable, counting how many times we've moved, but I've actually never used a moving van! All of my relocations were to another country and instead of packing everything I owned, I purged a good bit of my possessions.
So I take that back about being a pro. I know how to be a new person in a new community. But to be candid - moving vans are going to make me adult to a whole new level and I don't know if I'm up for the challenge...
