Marni was asked by Free Range Brewing of Charlotte, NC, to create a series of work honoring Dia de los Muertos, a traditional Mexican holiday held on November 1st and 2nd. This holiday honors loved ones who have left this earth.

Because Marni does not have Mexican heritage, she felt strongly that she should seek inspiration for this body of work through people who actually celebrate the Day of the Dead. A special thanks to Azucena Morales, Esteban Joel Landa Huerta, Ana Sofía Castañón, and Eliseo Cisneros Jr. for devoting their time to teaching Marni about their experiences with Dia de los Muertos.

"Day of the Dead" was created to build a bridge - to help others, outside of Mexican culture, learn about and honor this beautiful tradition.

These images are meant to meet you wherever you are - whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, or simply want to enjoy the brightly-colored, thought-provoking festivities.
10% of the earnings from these paintings were donated to the National Association of Latino Arts and Culture.
Some paintings are still for sale, please inquire for availability.
